🎶 Grupo Vidal Bridges Generations with Tejano Classic "Vuelvo" 🎶

           Fresh off the success of their George Strait cover, “Amarillo by Morning,” Corpus Christi-based Grupo Vidal is back—this time breathing new life into one of the most iconic songs in Tejano music history: “Vuelvo.”

Originally written by former Selena y Los Dinos keyboardist Ricky Vela and the late Tejano legend Jimmy Gonzalez, “Vuelvo” was first released in 1992 by the legendary Grupo Mazz (Joe Lopez & Jimmy Gonzalez) on the album Lo Haré por Ti. Now, over two decades later, Grupo Vidal’s rendition offers what lead vocalist Javier Vidal calls “a bridge between eras, blending tradition with innovation.”

            In a recent interview via text, Vidal emphasized that recording covers isn’t just about nostalgia.

“It’s not just about covering songs,” he said. “It’s about experimenting, pushing boundaries, and finding new ways to connect genres and generations.”

The inspiration behind both “Vuelvo” and their previous release stems from a deep respect for the legends who paved the way.

“Just like with Amarillo by Morning, our decision to record Vuelvo came from admiration—these songs are part of the DNA of Tejano and country music,” said Vidal.

           For longtime fans, it’s clear that Grupo Vidal isn’t simply recreating the originals. “Our goal is always to respect the original, while breathing new life into it with our unique blend of instrumentation, heartfelt vocals, and emotional storytelling,” Vidal shared. “We don’t just cover songs—we reimagine them.” And the results are resonating. “Vuelvo” is already gaining airplay across Tejano radio stations nationwide, with fans praising the fresh yet familiar sound. “Our mission is always the same,” Vidal concluded. “To create music that moves people, surprises them, and leaves a lasting mark.”
